Katya is an electrical and computer engineer born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, at the age of seven she moved to the United States and studied at the renowned University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), she is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University.
She entered NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) program as a fellow, and later became a full-time engineer, managing to work on 5 NASA missions, such as Perseverance and Europa Clipper. In 2022 she was part of Blue Origin’s NS-21 mission and became the first woman born in Mexico to go into space.
